On Sunday three separate groups enjoyed the cross country training clinic held at Tullymurry over the 3'3, 2.9, and 2,3 course. All riders felt they benefited immensely from the fact that instructors can iron out those little faults and give confidence to try bigger fences next time. The next date will be a combined training clinic on the 4th of July, consisting of show jumping and cross country to pre book call Laura 07540050788 also facilities at Tullymurry are available for hire 7 days a week including full show jumping course and xc country.

Tullymurry Two Phase Event - RESULTS

Tullymurry Equestrian Centre had a busy day on Sunday 13th June with over 100 entries competing at show-jumping and cross country which extended over one and a half miles and included two water complexes. A magnificent array of silverware and rosettes, sponsored by www.sportingimagesni.co.uk were on offer for the lucky winners who came double clear and closest to the optimum time. The Oakley Fayre cup for the Open 1m class was won by Jenny Copeland and Eddie in a hotly contested trial over the Eventing Ireland novice course. Class 2 entries were large resulting in the class being split into two sections with Margaret Liberante and Lorcan taking home the Holmstead Saddlery Cup in 2A and Jacqueline Shaw with "Blossom" awarded the Tullymurry Novice Horse Cup in 2B. Class 3 Under 18 honours and the Matheson Contracts Cup went to Kerry Johnston and 'Derry Mac'. Class 4, the ever popular Isabella Shields Memorial contest was won in fine style by Ruth English and Willow. The Under 18 Tullymurry Trophy was taken home to comber by Kathryn Boyd and "Out of the Phoenix". The Gabbie family from Crossgar were delighted with daughter Lauren and her pony "Bruno" won the Just Shane Trophy. The annual One Day Event at Tullymurry Equestrian Centre Downpatrick saw the sun shine all day on competitors from all over the province. Through all three disciplines of Dressage, Showjumping and Cross Country a high standard of competition was achieved with beautifully turned out horses and riders! As usual the Cross Country proved influential but was inviting, well presented with flowers and trees, and more importantly sand applied to ease the firm ground.

An impressive array of silverware was up for grabs and in this respect Jim Newsam from Newcastle returned home heavily laden with The Oakley Fare Cup for Class 1 on Murphy and the Tullymurry Perpetual Cup for class 4 on Max. Another local rider Eugene Milligan from Castlewellan on Ballybannon Boy took home the Holmestead Saddlery Cup for Class 2. The Mathison Contracts Cup winner was also a local success for Saintfield rider Gillian McCoy on Seagod. In the first of the Junior classes Annick Maginn on Ashvale Minstrel, again from Newcastle, received the Under 18 Trophy.

The popular Intro class section was won by Sharon Cowan on Calin King, taking the Isabella Shields Memorial Cup home to Newry. A large contingent from Fermanagh Harriers Pony Club made the long journey from Enniskillen worthwhile taking first, second and third in the Junior Section of the Intro Class with Samantha Trimble on Sally taking home the "Just Shane" Trophy.

Again many thanks to all those who helped before, during and after the event. There is a world of work involved in running a One Day Event and without those willing to give of their time the sport would be impossible.
